Privacy Policy

We are not harvesting your organs. We are collecting the following, because running a website without data is like cooking without heat:

• Analytics data — Page views, clicks, session duration via PostHog. PostHog only stores persistent data if you accept cookies. We also use Sentry for error monitoring and performance tracking, which runs automatically to keep the site from catching fire.
• Advertising & retargeting data — We use Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel for ad measurement and retargeting. These load automatically when you visit the site and set their own cookies. See their respective privacy policies (linked in Section 2) for details on what data they collect and how they use it.
• Chat transcripts — Messages you send to Chef Snackhole are saved so we can make the experience less terrible over time.
• Email addresses — If you give us one (chat gate, newsletter, Platinum Disappointment interest). We do not sell, rent, or lend these to anyone.
• Cookies & local storage — We use localStorage for session IDs, consent preferences, and message counts. PostHog sets its own cookies when you consent. Meta and TikTok set their own cookies automatically (see Section 2 below).
• Session recordings — Sentry may record a sample of user sessions (clicks, scrolls, page navigation) to help us diagnose errors. We configure Sentry to mask sensitive input fields, but refer to Sentry’s Privacy Policy for details on what they collect.
• Order data — If you buy merch, Stripe and Printful process your payment and shipping info. We store order references, not full card numbers.

Here is what lives on your device when you visit Snackhole:

Essential / Functional

• localStorage — Session ID, cookie consent preference, chat message count, email submission status. These never leave your browser.
• Admin session cookie — httpOnly cookie for authenticated admin access. Only set if you log in to the admin panel.

Analytics

• PostHog — Set only after you click “Fine, Whatever” on the consent banner. Tracks anonymous page views and product interactions. Before consent, PostHog runs in memory-only mode (no cookies stored).
• Sentry — Loads automatically for error monitoring and may record a sample of user sessions to help us reproduce bugs. See Sentry’s Privacy Policy for details on what data they collect and store.
• Vercel — Our hosting provider. See Vercel’s Privacy Policy for details on data they collect as part of serving the site.

Advertising & Retargeting

• Meta (Facebook) Pixel — Sets cookies when you visit the site. We send page view and e-commerce event data (product views, add-to-cart, purchases) to Meta for ad measurement and retargeting purposes. See Meta’s Privacy Policy for details on how they use this data and what cookies they set.
• TikTok Pixel — Sets cookies when you visit the site. We send page view and e-commerce event data to TikTok for ad measurement and retargeting purposes. See TikTok’s Privacy Policy for details on how they use this data and what cookies they set.

You can opt out of interest-based advertising through YourAdChoices, Meta Ad Preferences, or TikTok Ad Settings. Most browsers also let you block third-party cookies in settings.

We share data with these services to keep the lights on:

• Supabase — Database and authentication (hosted in the US).
• Vercel — Hosting, serverless functions, and request-level analytics.
• PostHog — Product analytics (US cloud). Persistent tracking only with your consent.
• Meta (Facebook) — Advertising pixel for ad measurement and retargeting.
• TikTok — Advertising pixel for ad measurement and retargeting.
• Sentry — Error monitoring, performance tracking, and session replay.
• Printful — Merch fulfillment. Receives shipping and order info necessary to fulfill your purchase. See Printful’s Privacy Policy.
• Stripe — Payment processing. Card data is submitted directly to Stripe’s systems. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
• OpenAI — Powers Chef Snackhole’s responses. Your chat messages are sent to their API. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.

• Chat transcripts — Retained indefinitely for product improvement. Contact us to request deletion.
• Email addresses — Kept until you unsubscribe or request removal.
• Order data — Retained as required for tax and legal compliance.
• Third-party service data — PostHog, Sentry, Meta, and TikTok each retain data they collect according to their own policies. We do not control how long these third parties store your data. See their respective privacy policies linked in Section 2 and Section 3.

Depending on where you live (CCPA, GDPR, etc.), you may have the right to:

• Know what personal data we hold about you.
• Delete your personal data (chat transcripts, email, account).
• Opt out of analytics by declining the cookie banner, using browser settings to block third-party cookies, or contacting us directly.
• Opt out of targeted advertising — Use the opt-out links in Section 2 above, or enable Global Privacy Control / “Do Not Track” in your browser.
• Data portability — Request a copy of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@snackhole.com. We will respond within 30 days, assuming Chef Snackhole does not intercept the email.

Snackhole is not intended for anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please close this tab and go do homework or something. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy as the dumpster fire evolves. Material changes will be noted here with an updated date. Continued use of Snackhole after changes constitutes acceptance.
